I remember first seeing this game on display in Stereo Studio in Aalborg around 1999. When I first saw it, I didn't really like it - the first generation 3D graphics was ugly compared to the 2D graphics of the earlier games. However, I have come around on this - Delta looks pretty cool for a 1998 shooter.

  • This game runs at 60 FPS.

Log entries

  • Got past level 1/7.

  • I reached stage 2 with the evil looking black ship, which fires lightning and has a weird line between the R-Type and the Force. I'm playing on EASY, which, despite its name, is not easy.
  • Got the score 103554. I destroyed the big walker and reached STAGE4, which seems inspired by the first level of the first R-Type.

  • All of the games I burned with ImgBurn on default settings (except for 16x write speed, just to be safe), works, but my old PlayStation has trouble streaming audio and video. R-Type seems to work fine in stage 1, but then fails to load stage 2.

  • I just tried this on the newest MiSTer PSX core, and it runs flawlessly, albeit without any sound yet. It is getting very close to me having a PlayStation connected to my TV at all times.
