Dammit, I hate games where you have to save manually. I just lost an hour of play because I forgot to save (and died).

Oh! There's an autosave option. Why wouldn't it be enabled by default?

I have become a Spectre and is travelling the galaxy. This game just got a lot more interesting...

Looking for something interesting to play on my Xbox One while visiting my dad, I installed Mass Effect. It seems to work as it should in its emulated version. The 9 year old game is a little bit hard to look at now, I wish the camera would avoid the extreme closeups of the characters, there is a little too much uncanny valley going on. The combat also seems a clunky to control, especially with a frame rate of 30 or lower.

With Joakim watching, I played the early parts of Mass Effect again. I really don't like much about this apart from the music, which is great and feels very modern for being 9 years old. But the game itself does not work for me. The frame rate is awful, and the shooting gameplay is overly simplistic, and controls poorly. After failing a shootout a couple of times, I gave up. Maybe Mass Effect was good in 2007. Maybe people were impressed with the graphics and music and couldn't see the gameplay for what it was.
