Aided by Zelda expert Jeppe, I started my first 3D Zelda game for the first time. I puzzled and battled my way through the Deku Tree, and entered Hyrule Castle and met Zelda. First impressions: the graphics are impressive for the era, with some well-designed camera work; the intro of the Queen Gohma boss fight is particularly great, with the spidery thing sitting on the ceiling, reacting to Link spotting her before attacking. The Z-targeting combat feels good and responsive, although I have some trouble judging the distance of my attacks. I'm a bit disappointed with the frame rate, which doesn't even seem to hold a solid 30 FPS.

I was thinking about Zelda after the re-release of Twilight Princess, and set up my Nintendo 64 and started a new game. I quickly got into the Deku Tree and starting getting my bearings in this game. I like the ambient music in here.
Deku Tree is dead? Whoa.
Open world. Day night cycle.

A lot of camera panning going on in the cutscenes. Maybe a bit too much.
Off to Death Mountain I go. I hope nothing bad happens there. Like death, for example.
After playing a bit more of this, I'm starting to get the appeal. The game is quite charming.
