- I played through the first couple of tutorial missions from the campaign. It starts out feeling a bit like building a new base in Warcraft, with your single little peon chopping away at trees and the warmachine slowly ramping up. However, it doesn't take long before you are considering Conveyor Belt routes and efficient placement of Inserters, and it slowly starts feeling more like The Settlers or SimCity.
- Hmm. Apparently, you need a Lab to perform research. Makes sense.
- ...Aaand Labs need electricity. So that's a whole new thing to deal with.
- I have electricity and can research stuff. Logistics seems like a key technology for getting a production up and running.
- I'm starting to figure out how to place stuff, and I'm rapidly running out of space in the center of my base. I guess I need to move some stuff around soon.
- I need Assembling Machine 2, and require Automation 2 for that.
- I rebuilt my entire base from scratch to support creating the red and green science stuff. It looks pretty well organized now.
- I have greatly optimized the production of coal and steel, moved my steam generator away from the factories, and rebuilt a lot of stuff to be able to generate more science materials.
- I couldn't sleep for some reason, and started watching a video stream of my own game of Factorio from earlier that night. It's a great video to fall a sleep to, it's like watching paint dry!
- Now I'm digging for oil. It's a whole thing.
- Oil Refineries produce Petroleum Gas from Crude Oil. Chemical Plants use Petroleum Gas and Water to create Sulphur, which can be combined with Water and Iron Plantes to create Sulfuric Acid, which can be used to create Batteries, used together with Advanced Circuits and more to create Science pack 3. Advanced Circuits require Plastic Bars, which are created from Petroleum Gas and Coal. It's complicated.

- Version 1.0 is out now! I tried updating and continuing the game, but got the error: Map version 0.14.22-0 cannot be loaded because it is lower than the minimum input version (0.16.0-0). Time to start over!

- I started a new standard game in version 1.0, including attacks from Zerglings ... I mean Biters.
- Constant Biter attacks forced me to build a wall with turrets around my factory. To build the wall, I created a wall factory and an ammunition factory.

- Also, looking at the title screen animations, the graphics is really beautiful nowadays.Are all the sprites and tiles double resolution now?
- After watching Destiny playing Factorio on a very high level while fighting with other streamers, I got the urge to get back to this awesome game. I don't remember anything, but I'm trying to get control over SylteFactory again. There was a bug attack, but I dealt with it.
- I'm starting to design a 'bus', meaning an array of conveyors that travel centrally through a bunch of factories. It seems like a simple but effecient way to distribute materials. It strikes me that this game might secretly be training me to build a computer, I don't know.
- I have been fixing problems with my base using splitters. It was important to learn the design patterns for swapping material lanes, splitting and merging belts, and load balancing lanes. I also built a car, and started exploring the area for new resources. It was interesting to drive around with the view fully zoomed out, the game has a quite unique look. I ran out of fuel, so I had get out of the car and chop down a few trees.
- I found oil, destroyed a nearby bug nest, and built a train between the oil field and my main base. I took the train back and forth, but don't know how to transport the oil.
- I managed to set up the stations correctly, set up rail signals, and managed to make an automatic train route that works. The train system is neat, is the game turning into Railroad Tycoon now?
I'm trying to get an oil-based production pipeline up and running. I need Sulfuric Acid to make Batteries, and then Accumulators.
I managed to set up Battery production, but now my trains don't work anymore. Don't know why.
