Final Fantasy VII was a very technically impressive game when it came out for the PS1 in 1997. The summoning animations were absolutely stunning, and for some people in the West, myself included, this was the first JRPG they played. Based on this demo, the upcoming remake is looking great. Combat is a bit more action-focused, and it feels more like a hybrid of FFXV and the original game.
It's on PS Plus from March 2nd. Could be my March game
Bjørk played FF7 back in the day, and was fascinated by this hyper-detailed remake. We played through a couple of chapters.
I started a new savegame and played through the early parts. So far, I really like the combat, it's an extremely welcome evolution of the menu-based actions which the first game in this series solidified as a genre default.
Bjørk visited and we kept playing through the bike chase (that was basically just Road Rash with better graphics), and got our first summon: Ifrit. It's pretty fun, although the characters don't make any sense at all.
