BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger (Xbox 360)

An incredibly well-designed Street Figher-clone, with controls that are just simplified and loosened enought to the point where it feels extremely smooth and satisfying to play. Although the game seems simple at first glance, the fighting system is still packed with great details.

  • Got this game in the mail today ... tried out the Arcade Mode, the gameplay seems like a solid Street Fighter clone, and ... Wait a minute: IS THAT AN UMBRELLACAT?
  • Completed the game with Ragna the Bloodedge on Beginner (1/6) difficulty (Arcade Mode). Hmmm... That was too easy. I must try the next difficulty level: easy. :) Also, that ending sure didn't seem like the 'good' ending. Kinda depressing.

  • Completed the game with Ragna the Bloodedge on Normal (3/6) difficulty. Challenging, but not unfair - unlike certain other fighting games... *Cough*reet Fighter IV. Excuse me.

  • Getting 100% in Story Mode entails playing every single match three times, losing, and winning, finishing with both a normal and a Distortion move. That does not sound fun at all, so I'm going to pass on that. I will try to play the Story Mode once with each character to get a little story stuff, but it seems Arcade mode is the most fun.

  • Completed the game with Bang Shishigami on Normal (3/6) difficulty (Arcade Mode). Having played for a while with Arakune, the weird, weird ghost-thing, and not being able to beat the end boss, V-13, I thought I just sucked; but switching to the awesome pretentious Bang Shishigami, I fixed that annoying cyborg nice and quick.

  • Warming up for a night of fighting games at the office, and warming up for the new game for Arc System Works, Guilty Gear Xrd, we played a few matches of BlazBlue. I was the only one who played it before, and I remembered nothing.
