Facts

  • Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata (no. 14) is played by Shinji Mikami himself (also executive producer on the game).

Analysis

  • I like this game. However, while me and Malu were playing through this game, we sort of half decided that we would transfer all the spirits in the game, which should give us the 'Salvation of All' trophy. First off, it seemed like too much to be able to find them all, but then we discovered the bracelet that guided us to the nearest spirits. After 50 hours of playtime, we got almost all of them. We're only missing the spirits that you get for defeating the parades. Now, the parades were first introduced as something spooky to stay away from, and I actually assumed that they would result in instant death. After searching for how to get the final spirits, we realized that we should have charged every single parade we encountered, as they only spawn with a fixed game time interval. Tonight, Malu has been asleep on the couch for an hour or two with the game running in the background, waiting for the parade to show up. When it does show up, I grab the controller and quickly perform the almost trivial task of killing the ghosts. What a weird thing this game turned into.

  • We played almost all day. This is an straightforward open world game full of ghosts, cats, dogs, and raccoons.

  • I absolutely love the soundtrack.

  • Most of the ghosts aren't actually that scary, except for the Shine Dancer, a floating hanged sheet.

  • The ghost parades are awesome.

  • I completed chapter 3 while Malu was sleeping, but managed to record some of the awesome moments. The dream sequences (or whatever they are) are really cool.

  • 2023-01-03
  • We completed almost all of the side quests on the map, we are soon ready for the final chapters.

  • Got the Your tail is showing trophy. -

We found all the Tanukis. Very cute collectible, random objects with tanuki tails.

  • Got the Wishmaker trophy. -

    We did all side missions!

  • Got the Salvation of All trophy. -

After playing/sleeping for 60 hours, we finally encountered enough parades to get the final couple of spirits. What a ridiculous trophy this ended up being.

  • Completed the game.

After the monumental task of getting all the spirits, completing the game was a breeze. The final chapter was a walk through different areas with voice over. The story is simple and makes sense, but maybe not that riveting.

  • Mastered this game.

Malu insisted that we vacuum up the rest of the trophies, and it turned out to be a simple checklist of items and locations. We got the Platinum trophy in no time!
