This game is a classic scrolling shoot 'em up with spectacular modern visuals and audio. It was developed by Scottish developer KeelWorks.
It has air and ground attacks like Xevious, but you can only fire one of the weapons at a time, which makes for more interesting gameplay. To exploit modern controller possibilities, you use the right-stick for weapon aiming, in a similar way to other modern scrolling shooter Remote Life from 2022.
During the story mode, you gradually unlock power-ups including homing shots. Story mode can be fully played by two local players.
It also innovates a bit on the genre, featuring a novel shield/weapon balancing system reminiscent of power rerouting often mentioned in Star Trek.
Arcade mode is single-player only.
I got this on sale for 164 DKK.
I've tried to beat the first mission, but it's quite difficult. I'm learning how to parse the chaotic visuals and how to control redirecting power between shields and weapon.
After failing many times on Normal difficulty, Malu and I beat mission 1 on Easy difficulty. Easy seems fair and reasonable.
We did it on our third try! The last boss was difficult, and you had to play the level all over every time, but finally I learned to keep my cool in the initial bullet storm, and from then it went OK.
