- My wiki has a 2005 entry about MAME emulation of various games, among them R-Type II.
- 2014-07-09: Found an old MAME save state on my old Dell Inspiron 510m laptop.
- The MiSTer M72 core now has support for R-Type II!! This is technically on the Irem M84 board, but it's still based on a V30, a Z80, and a YM2151, so it superficially seems very similar to the M72.
I played a bit of this on MiSTer in a break.
