Completed level 1/6. This classic game, now having spawned a franchise of at least 30 games, plays completely like I would expect from the other franchise games I have played. I'm playing this in the Aalborg Hospital cantina, while taking an hour off from keeping my poor dad company in intensive care. I could enjoy this nostalgic experience more, were I not distracted by the situation. I hope I can play it under better circumstances soon. Get well, dad.

Completed level 2/6. Back in Copenhagen, trying to relax by playing some more old school Castlevania.

    Completed level 3/6. Die, mummies.

*Finally* completed level 4/6. Phew, that first part of the stage was really tricky. I'm playing this in Liatorp, Sweden, after a day of a boat trip in the pouring rain. My dad is here, doing quite well. :)

Dammit. I guess you need the Holy Water to beat Death at the end of level 5, but I seem to always accidentally pick up the Axe at the start of Stage 14.

Also, the Boomerang is at the left side of the first floor of stage 15, which also screws me up.

Completed level 5/6. Yay! Finally 'cheated' Death by drenching him in a constant stream of Holy Water. I got the Holy Water subweapon in the beginning of level 5, was very careful not to pick up any other subweapon, while upgrading it to level III (which raises its fire rate). The final stretch before Death is quite tricky, but I got it by finding a safe zone in front of the Axe-men, and picking the right time to jump and throw a Holy Water.

Yeah, beat level 6 using the time-stopping clock, some skill, and a bit of luck, and now have a continue point just before Dracula, the final boss.

Completed the game. YES! Die, Dracula, you annoying piece of trash! I whipped his stupid head off, Holy Watered his monster form and whipped that in the face, jumped over a few bullets, and presto: completed. This game is legendary, and I beat it. Awesome. :)

I just got a big shipment of NES games from Lukie Games, and I had Mikkel S and Erik over for the great occasion. The first one I popped in was this, the great horror classic. I had to jiggle it around a bit to get it to work, but it ended up running fine. It's an NTSC game, which runs too slow on my PAL NES, but I guess I could get used to it.
