I upgraded the PS4 version by inserting the disc, going to the store page, pressing the '...' menu, selecting the Standard Edition, and then downloaded the PS5 version. Not very user-friendly.
I'm trying import my PS4 save. I'm going to New Game, where I can select 'Import PS4 Saves'.
It worked, I even get duplicate PS5 trophies automatically.
D-pad Down shows all missions and trucks and stuff. Very useful.
I did the Winter Stores mission.
I think I got some free trucks when I upgraded, in any case, I was able to sell a few vehicles to get enough cash to buy an ANK MK38, which is based on the 1982 US army truck AM General M939.
I played some more trucks, explored new areas in the ANK, ran out of gas, and transported some logs.
I finished the logging mission, leveled up and got some new mud tires for the Scout 800. I decided to start exploring Alaska, just because I could. The heavy snow is tricky to get through, but I still managed to explore a bunch of the first map.
I found a Hummer in a lake, dragged it out, and used a International Paystar 5070 with a big crane to dump it on a Royal BM17 to bring it home. I put some bigger wheels on it and now it's my favorite scout.
With great effort and annoyance, I transported a drowned Scout 800 in Drummond Lake to its owner. I had to drive an ANK from Smithville Dam with fuel. Maybe I should always have a refueling truck around on the map I'm on.
I've been exploring Alaska for hours. I found a Caterpillar truck, which seems the most useful for logging.
I got an incredibly long trailer for the lumbering Pacific P16 for transporting 3 Metal Beams to Island Lake for the Power Lines mission. The trailer tipped over and dropped most of its load from a rickety bridge on the mountain trail at the south of Smithville Dam. I sent an International Paystar 5070 with a big crane to rescue the cargo, but then the crane flipped over and slid down the cliff. I tried my best to pull it out with the P16, which then got hopelessly stuck. I needed another crane, so I sent out the Royal BM17. That also flipped over. In the end, I gave up and rescued the three fallen trucks to the garage. I spent 1.5 hours on this.
I played 6 hours of truck today.
I delivered Metal Beams for the Power Lines mission with the ridiculously long trailer. I then started exploring Russia a bit and bought the awesome Azov 64131 8x8 truck (based on the Russian KamAZ-65228), which I will now start using in Michigan.
Finally I finished the incredibly annoying 'Geological Exploration'. Finding 3 random points in the middle of forests and swamps on a huge map using distance and an obnoxious beeping sound is not my idea of fun.
I fixed all the bridges in Drummond Island. Now I can really get to work.
My current Loadout is:
- Scout: TUZ 420
- Rescue Truck: ANK MK38
- Crane Truck: Royal BM17
- Off-road Transportation: Azov 64131, Pacific P16
- Highway Transport: Royal BM17I tested out using an Off-road and a Highway Transport together for effeciency. It worked pretty well, I used the slow but unstopabble Azov 64131 for the off-road areas, and ran the Royal BM17 with a basic Flatbed and a crane through mountains roads at breakneck speeds, and then meeting up and transfering cargo using the crane.
