The reviews are in, and they are great. I preordered a copy.
New character Reina seems to be Girl Heihachi.
I downloaded the demo and started playing against the CPU. Weirdly, I had to crank up the difficulty to Ultra Hard to get some resistance. The game feels great and it's fun to see the new detailed character models. I played as much of Story Mode as the demo allowed on NORMAL difficulty, which surprisingly was a bit too hard to be fun. Maybe the default EASY difficulty is a better choice.
It has arrived at the Kiosk. Tonight, Tekken will be played.
I played two ranked matches and got destroyed in both. People are too good at this game!
I did the usual ritual when a new Tekken game comes out - I went into Ranked Battles and got my 1 win trophy. Next, I went into Player Battles and lost like 10 times before I won once. But now I have the scary online trophies and I can relax and play offline modes.
The Tekken 8 story is nonsensical and boring at times, but I did enjoy the final showdown in space between Kazuya and Jin.
Arcade Battle is 8 stages, a reasonable difficulty Kazuya fight at the end, and no cutscenes. A bit boring, but you can't really complain about lack of content in this crazy game.
Completed Character Episodes: Law, Reina, Jack-8.
Completed Character Episodes: Bryan and Victor.
I'm quickly punching my way through Arcade Quest mode. I finished 5/7 arcades, mostly playing with Reina.
I won my first Group Battle, quickly got a few minor trophies, and then a few ghost battles, and then I had the Platinum trophy. Pretty easy as usual.
I played a bunch against Erik, very fun. We also played a bunch of volleyball.
At the office, waiting for Summer Games Fest to happen, I had brought this and installed it (which took more than half an hour). I played some good matches with Marconi, Nikki, and Tuki.
