Character Art

Character art is a common name for art made using typographical characters, the most common example being ASCII art. ASCII art is graphics made using characters from the ASCII character set. Several other character sets have been used, some of which includes 'semigraphical' characters such as colored boxes, circles, etc. An example of a character set that includes semigraphical characters is the PETSCII set from the Commodore 64.
